I stare out through my lens taking in the touch of grey and orange that melts the sky away as dawn approaches.  It is the best time of day, where even the city sleeps and the quiet seems to be mandatory. The world seems on edge as though waiting to see if the sun will truly rise again. The shutter clicks, capturing the silence on film as the rest of the world wakes up. A baby screams, a car alarm blares, the world is back to normal and the brief moment of respite is over. The day has come again. People move about her as she cuts through the blur, things look clearer through the lens so she holds it above her head and stares at the sky. Grey

         The shadow of The Great Wall covered the small village protectively, blotting out the harsh sunlight. Enclosed by trees the village was unremarkable save for the river that cut through it, always cold and swift.  People dotted the scenery like ants, mixing with one another and occasionally making an impression on one another, others simply drifting like so many leaves on the wind.         Niu stood by one of the bridges that crossed the river, staring at her own reflection.  When the air conditioner buzzes And each tick of the clock announces seconds wasted and left for waiting When the air feels heavy, though your eyes don’t And when you count every breath hoping for new It comes and goes, creeping, hiding Striking suddenly, killing productivity Slow and painful it waits in broad daylight, poised for the strike It is the lack of everything Nothing would be more interesting Because different is the cure Imagination is the warrior It fights the good fight So when you sit and daydream never lose sight For you are curing the world of reality
